Walnut Rolls (DIÓS BEIGLI)
- 600g / 5 cups Flour
- 60g / 1/3 cup Sugar
- 60g / 4 Tbsp Butter
- 2 Egg Yolks
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pkg / 2 ½ Tsp yeast
- 1 ½ cup milk
Mix yeast, 1 cup warm milk, 1 Tbsp flour and 1 tbsp sugar lt stand for a few minutes. Mix remaining ingredients add yeast mixture and knead into two balls. Let stand for 20 min. Spread into thin rectangles spread filling evenly and roll up. Brush with egg whites and prick with fork. Bake in for about 20-30 minutes or until golden at 325
Walnut filling
- 2 cups ground walnuts
- ¾ cup Sugar
- Ground lemon peel
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1- peeled grated apple
- Raisins
- 2-3 Tbsp milk
Make a syrup from the sugar and milk, pour onto the remaining ingredients and stir.
